The School of Human Ecology at UT-Austin consists of Human Development and Family Services, Nutritional Sciences, Textiles and Apparel. We are passionate about training the next generation of ‘science based, human focused’ Longhorns at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.


As one of the nation’s premier public research institutions, The University of Texas at Austin is the originator of many novel and useful discoveries each year. The Office of Technology Commercialization (OTC) helps university employees protect and commercialize new and useful inventions that are potentially patentable or copyrightable.


Rice Alliance – Austin Chapter aids entrepreneurs and investors alike, principally through educational events and workshops but also through mentoring, funding, partnership, and networking. The Austin Chapter was formed in 2003 as the successful Rice Alliance for Technology & Entrepreneurship initiative at Rice University in Houston expanded its footprint. Austin was an obvious choice and the Austin Chapter now claims an important space in the entrepreneurial community in the capital city.


Gustolab International Institute for Food Studies (GLI) is the first center of study and research in Italy dedicated to academic programs on the theme of Food Sudies.  Gustolab Institute is the academic headquarters for study abroad programs specific in Food, Media and Nutrition for the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Hobart and William Smith Colleges and the University of Massachusetts Amherst.


Startup Aggieland is open to all qualified Texas A&M University students enrolled at the College Station campus. Startup Aggieland offers 24/7/365 access to student startup offices and co-working spaces for student collaboration, as well as free business resources, professional training and networking events.


Food + Tech Austin is a community of startups and individuals working to impact the food system. It exists to connect and be a structure to support food + tech entrepreneurs with their ventures. Monthly Meetups, business opportunities and guidance from mentors are just a few perks of the community membership.
