Administrative Assistant

Hours / Rate: 20 hours per week, $30 per hour

Food+City is a growing nonprofit organization exploring the food supply chain to improve how we feed cities. We’re a small, highly effective team that is seeking a part-time, organized, technologically-savvy administrator to execute a variety of initiatives and support our team.

Responsibilities: Administrative support for all F+C team members. Coordination and support of all F+C programs, including website, magazines, events, and Challenge Prize. Calendar management, written communications, attendance at meetings as needed, newsletters, meeting management.



  • Self-motivating, able to to learn new skills, technology (Knowledgeable/familiar with Mailchimp, Wordpress, Slack, Outlook, Google Docs, Dropbox, Keynote/Powerpoint, and Squarespace a plus); Adobe suite (photoshop, illustrator, indesign a plus)

  • Adaptable to a fast-changing landscape

  • Risk taker, with solid organizational skills, accurate, detail-oriented

  • Strong writing and editing skills

  • Able to synthesize large volumes of information in relevant, creative, usable ways

  • Interested in/curious about food systems

  • Bachelor’s degree, 2+ years experience in a related role

The job is a fun one, moving quickly between a variety of different tasks including:

  • General administrative duties

  • Assisting with technology needs

  • Designing various web and print materials

  • Research

  • Assisting in event planning

  • Assisting in building presentations

Hours and location: ~20 hours/week — Austin-based position with a mix of in-person meetings and working from home. Reliable transportation is required, as meetings will be in various locations.
